Results enquiries
Centres can request a result enquiry if they are approached by a candidate who believes their results do not reflect their performance on the day of the test.
Please be aware that, following a results enquiry, results can go down as well as up and this could affect the candidate's university application.
Requests must be submitted using the online form by 21 August 2024.
The fee for a results enquiry is £46 per candidate, per paper. If there is any change to the original result, you will not be charged.
You should receive the outcome of the results enquiry within five working days of submitting the form.
If the candidate has applied to the University of Cambridge, the University of Warwick or Imperial College London, we will notify them directly of any change to the results. Other institutions will be notified via UCAS.
Access to scripts
We do not offer an access to scripts service for STEP and are unable to return candidates’ scripts.
Appeals
If a candidate wants to appeal against a results enquiry outcome (or a malpractice case), centres can submit an appeal on their behalf using the online form within five working days of receiving the outcome.
The fee for an appeal is £46 per candidate, per paper. If the appeal is successful, you will not be charged.
We will aim to complete an appeal within 10 working days of receiving the request. Exactly how long any specific appeal takes depends on the individual case. The panel that looks at appeals will always try to make a decision in time for it to be taken into account during the current university admissions round.
Please note: while the appeals panel makes every effort to review the appeal during the current university admissions round, it cannot be guaranteed. Applicants should take this into consideration, before submitting their appeal.
