Bursary scheme

A fund has been established by OCR to provide bursaries to West Midlands students to make the most of their opportunity of studying at the University of Cambridge. The West Midlands Bursary Scheme is part of OCR's commitment to recognising and encouraging the achievement of all learners. Each year the scheme provides eligible West Midlands students bursaries of £2,500 per annum for up to five successful applicants.

How to enter candidates

An official nomination form has to be completed by each candidate and sent back to the address below. The return date has now passed for this year.

Timetable

  • Applications to be considered and short-listed during June/July 2008
  • Final decision to be made and announced to candidates in August 2008 (when places at Cambridge University have been confirmed)
  • Bursary to be paid directly to the relevant college as soon as possible after the start of the academic year.

    • No - all that is required is that the application form is completed with a paragraph as to why an applicant should receive a bursary, and a copy of the student's full UCAS form is supplied.

  2. What level of OCR qualifications are needed by a student to be eligible to apply?
    • The OCR qualification must contribute to any condition of entry for the undergraduate course.

  3. Can applicants apply for the new Government grant in addition to applying for a bursary?
    • Yes.

  4. Can applicants apply for the Cambridge University bursary?
    • Yes - Cambridge University rules will apply in relation to the Cambridge University bursary.

  5. I do not have a copy of my UCAS form - where do I get one from?
    • Your centre, or alternatively the college you have applied to, will have a copy.
