Role specification
Question paper setting¹
- Set the first draft of the question paper, mark scheme and grid(s) within schedule and according to any instruction from the Chief Examiner, and as required by the Code of Practice.
- Amend the first drafts in light of comments from the reviser(s) to produce a second draft question paper, mark scheme and grid(s).
- Attend the QPEC and other related meetings and keep a written record of all amendments as required.
- Produce the final draft of the question paper, mark scheme and grid(s) within schedule incorporating all QPEC amendments.
- Check the first proof copy and final printed copy of the question paper.
- At all stages ensure the mark scheme and grid(s) are accurate and complete.
Managing the marking of the assessment¹
- Review the mark scheme and prepare for the standardisation process.
- Lead the standardisation process and ensure effective standardisation.
- Produce the final mark scheme.
- Mark candidates' work according to the agreed mark scheme.
- Monitor the marking of assessors as specified in the relevant OCR documents.
- Complete to schedule all documentation as specified in the relevant OCR documents.
Awarding¹
- Complete the OCR confidential report on the performance of the assessment including making recommendations of key grade
boundaries.
- Participate in/attend the awarding meeting.
- Produce and if required, present the Principal Examiner's Report to Centres for approval by the awarding committee.
- Choose exemplar scripts for archive and training purposes.
Marking Review
- Attend the Marking Review meeting if required.
Result Enquiries¹
- Re-mark candidates' scripts as required and instructed by OCR.
Professional development
- Attend relevant professional development events as required by OCR.
- Conduct training for assessors.
- Contribute to OCR INSET and support programmes.
Appraisal and feedback
- Appraise the work of the assessors for whom you are responsible, giving written advice to OCR.
