OCR Cymru recently sponsored the Barry College Assistant Principal's Award for contribution to college life. The award was won by 23 year old Vicki Andrews of Llantwit Major who was presented with the award by Robin Hughes, National Manager for OCR Cymru.
Caron Spencer-Jones, Vicki's Business and IT Lecturer, says: "Vicki was an excellent student who studied with me at Level 2 for the Ilex/ City and Guilds Certificate for Legal Secretaries; she also achieved Level 2 Paralegal Studies, OCN L2 Legal Project and L2 Key Skills in Communication. She also completed numerous Level 2 Word Processing qualifications together with Legal Word Processing and Audio Typing. She worked hard and participated in the life of the College."
Dinah Griffiths, Barry College entrepreneurship champion, says: "During 2007/08, Vicki worked as a Student Enterprise Intern for Barry College. During this time Vicki won the Welsh Student Enterprise Intern Award, presenting to an international audience of entrepreneurship educators. Confident and innovative, Vicki managed to persuade staff and students to participate in many of the charitable events she organised, ranging from 'Barry and the Beanstocks' - where students threw beans at staff - and 'Who's the Biggest Pancake Tosser?'"

Not only did she arrange a number of events within the college but she also won the Welsh Student Enterprise Interns Award at a National event in the Millennium Stadium and presented to an international audience of entrepreneurship educators and Welsh Assembly Government members at an evening event in UWIC, promoting Barry College's entrepreneurial activities.
Vicki is a confident, innovative, communicator willing to persuade both staff and students to participate in activities and events.
