e-portfolio

What is an e-portfolio?

An electronic portfolio, (e-portfolio) is a storage area, where learners upload and submit their work and tutors and assessment personnel view and mark work. Unlike traditional paper based methods, e-portfolios provide much richer and varied ways of recording and presenting evidence. Learners can submit a range of file formats including word processed documents, spreadsheets, images, video and sound files.

The content of an e-portfolio can then be shared with others. They can be searched and viewed from different perspectives and enable learners to access their work at any time.

All you need to run most e-portfolio systems is a PC or laptop with internet access (preferably broadband). No specialist software or hardware is necessary as everything you need can be access via the Internet.
