Request a post-results service

    • Please be aware that clerical checks and post-results reviews may result in candidates' marks and subject grades being lowered. So before submitting your request, please obtain consent using the following form:

      Making an appeal

If you still have concerns following the outcome of an enquiry about results you may appeal against it. This must be done in writing within 14 days of receipt of the outcome. Centres are advised to read the following document before submitting an appeal:

    • In addition to grades, the following results indicators could appear for some candidates within the Interchange and EDI results data:

X – A result has not been issued. This may be because:

      • the candidate failed to submit work for any of the subject's components
      • there was an incorrect combination of units for certification
      • a candidate has been issued with more than one UCI
      • a script was not available to be marked. This will show as 'No Result' on statements of results.

      # – This character, used to denote partial absence, may be shown next to a grade if the candidate submitted work for some, but not all, of the subject’s components or units.

Q – This is normally applied to replace a result in cases of malpractice. Occasionally, it could appear where a result could not be finalised prior to the generation of results. Where a replacement result is not provided at the time electronic results are issued, we will have been in touch with your centre. This will show as ‘Pending’ on statements of results.

      Missing and incomplete results service

If you believe that any of these indicators have been applied incorrectly, you may report this using the missing and incomplete results (MIR) service. MIR queries should be requested via Interchange.

Please note that where candidates have been given an enhancement due to special consideration, there may not be an obvious correlation between the marks and grades shown on some of the results documents.

Download Smooth Running, our guide on avoiding missing and incomplete results.

    • All late certification requests should be made via Interchange.

An automated email alert will be sent when results become available to view online, and a revised statement of results may be downloaded. Applications will not be accepted on paper or via EDI.

This is a free service, but please note that applications will not be accepted after the deadline. Centres must ensure that GCSE/GCSE Short Course certification is requested in the series in which candidates meet the terminal rule.

Queries about candidates' results can only be submitted using the services described below. For more details about post-results services, please see the Admin guides.

    • Under certain circumstances, a centre may wish to query the result issued to one or more candidates. Enquiries about results include requests for clerical checking and reviews of marking or moderation.

Before submitting a request, centres must obtain consent for clerical checks and post-results reviews of marking since, with these services, candidates' marks and subject grades may be lowered.
