Examination certificate security Tuesday 23 October 2007

Unfortunately there are a minority of people who make a living from selling certificate forgeries. In terms of the number of certificates produced and distributed to students each year, the issue thankfully remains small.

However, we want to reassure you of the proactive steps being taken by us to counter the problem of forgery of examination results documentation to ultimately prevent people from gaining an unfair advantage, whether in the field of further education or employment.

What are we doing to reduce the risk?:

  • By using the latest printing technologies our Statements of Provisional Results and exam certificates now contain a number of inbuilt security features.
  • A verification service is available, whereby the candidate's examination results, as originally issued, can be confirmed.
  • A Certifying Statement of Results can be supplied to a third party such as a potential employer upon request.

If you suspect fraudulent activities, please contact the police in the first instance. For further advice from OCR, contact the OCR Customer Contact Centre on 01223 553998.
