GCSE students can take to the ice from 2009 as OCR launches its draft specifications for 43 new GCSEs. These include a redeveloped PE syllabus that offers students the option to study ice dancing, snowboarding, surfing and karate, amongst others.
Inspired by Dancing on Ice winners Suzanne Shaw, Kyran Bracken and Gaynor Faye, PE students can choose to learn basic ice dancing skills as part of the course including; three turns, inside and outside edges and runs. PE students will also learn very practical issues involving ice dancing participation and performance within the context of an active, healthy lifestyle.
As part of the revised syllabus for first teaching in 2009, OCR has updated topics across all its 43 GCSEs.
