OCR response to Civitas' criticism of vocational qualifications for 14-16 year oldsThursday 21 August 2008

OCR believes that today's report published by Civitas, criticising vocational qualifications for 14–16 year olds, is throwing the baby out with the bath water in its attack on league table equivalences which are created by Government. In doing so Civitas is marginalising those students who are only motivated by OCR Nationals – which evidence shows enables students to gain real skills. This is why OCR believes responsibility for compiling the League Tables should be switched to Ofqual as part of the forthcoming regulatory reform.
