The new Unique Learner Number for Diploma learners Friday 29 August 2008

A new 'identifier' is being introduced called the Unique Learner Number (ULN). This ULN is a personal 10-digit number, which is essential for learners taking a Diploma programme of study.

With effect from 1 September 2008, if you are registering or entering a learner for a qualification that will count towards a Diploma, e.g. Principal Learning, Project/Extended Project, Functional Skills or GCSEs, you must first obtain a ULN from the Learner Registration Service. This ULN must then be included with every registration or entry. With this information, the learner achievements can be linked together to gain a Diploma qualification.

For more information, and to generate or check an existing ULN, please refer to the Learner Registration Service.
