Students get ahead with bursaries Tuesday 23 September 2008

Greg Watson and six studentsSix high-flying students from the West Midlands have received bursaries from OCR towards their fees at Cambridge University.

Each student received £2,500 in a presentation at our Coventry office before beginning their studies next month. This is the fifth successive year we have awarded bursaries to the region's students.

The bursaries are funded from money set aside when the former West Midlands Exam Board merged with OCR in 1998.

Greg Watson, chief executive of OCR, said: "We are delighted to celebrate the success of West Midlands students going to Cambridge by providing them with a financial head start through the bursary scheme.

"These six students deserve congratulations for being brave enough and good enough to achieve places at one of the world's great universities, where they will be stretched to the very highest level."
