Intelligent results analysis for teachers Thursday 2 October 2008

Science teachers from across the country have become the first in the UK to see our new results analysis service.

We demonstrated Active Results, a new service to help teachers track learner progress, at two events for Science Cluster Support groups in London and Manchester this week. Over 80 teachers attended from across the country, who each represent up to ten schools within their own cluster group.

Active Results is the only results analysis system which takes into account contextual value added information such as prior attainment. The free service is being piloted using this summer's exam results by schools who teach OCR's popular Twenty First Century and Gateway Science GCSEs.

Dr Jean Wheeler, of Thurston Community College in Suffolk, was introduced to Active Results at one of the events. She said: "Active Results enables the teacher to undertake a thorough analysis of GCSE results on an individual basis. It's easy to use and quick to negotiate.  The analysis then provides the teacher with the information needed in order to set personalised targets for each student for any further exams that are taken."

The intention is that the Active Results service will be rolled out for the results for all of OCR's new GCSE syllabuses which will be taught from September 2009.
