Students at a school in Rugby have scooped acclaim in top regional computing awards thanks to skills learnt as part of the OCR Nationals Level 2 ICT qualification.
The Avon Valley School and Performing Arts College won two gongs in a competition to design a website on a topic of their choice. Pupils applied skills learnt as part of their OCR Nationals course to produce innovative, fully functional websites.
The entry 'Juice' by ICT student Aisha Yunus came runner up while Raj Vidukul, Jiten Rathod and Ryan Bayliss received prizes for their highly commended entry, 'Gamer Land and Car Reviews 2008'.
Avon Valley's Head of ICT David Senior praised the qualification for its practical use of modern technology and for helping to inject more fun into ICT study.
The British Computer Society (BCS) Coventry Branch Schools competition attracted nearly 50 entries from schools across the region and was presented by the Deputy Mayor of Coventry, Councillor Jack Harrison, and Coventry's Lady Godiva, Pru Poretta.
