In 2012, OCR launched Cambridge Technicals, a new suite of vocational qualifications for post 16 students. At the end of the first year of teaching, we visited Thirsk School and Sixth Form College in North Yorkshire, where they’re delivering Cambridge Technicals in Health and Social Care, to find out how they’ve got on.
OCR spoke to Kay Turner, the school’s Head of Health and Social Care and student Jake Dearlove to find out more. Commenting on the first year of his Cambridge Technicals course, Jake said: “It really does help to equip you for what you are going to be learning when you do your degree or go into employment”.
