On 4 July, the government announced that 'Tech Level' vocational qualifications which gained the backing of business and universities would have the same status as A Levels.
This latest proposal forms part of a wider programme of reforming vocational qualifications that began with the Wolf Review in 2011, and was followed by the introduction of new criteria for the inclusion of 14 to 16 vocational qualifications in performance tables.
