The latest success story from the Enterprise Academy business skills initiative is the achievement by 100 students from the Everton Foundation in gaining the OCR-accredited Enterprise Academy Certificate in Business and Enterprise.
The aim of the OCR qualification is to improve the business skills of students by using a football club as a real-life business model.
A special celebratory event at Everton's Goodison Park for students, teachers and parents, included a number of activities and competitions, with special guest Rachel Brown, goalkeeper for the England women's national football team, providing a hand by presenting prizes to the winners.
The target of the Enterprise Academy initiative is to have every Barclays Premier League club engaged with Premier League Enterprise by the end of 2010. So far, 12 Premier League and Football League clubs have established Premier League Enterprise Academies: Aston Villa, Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers, Burnley, Everton, Fulham, Hull City, Manchester United, Middlesbrough, Newcastle United and Sunderland.
