OCR is pleased to be supporting a new national campaign - Getting British Business Online (GBBO) – which aims to get 100,000 small businesses trading online by the end of 2011.
A free Google website - www.gbbo.co.uk - has been set up to facilitate trading opportunities and small businesses can also benefit from the knowledge and experience of more established organisations by going online or calling a helpline to direct them towards ITQ providers in their area.
OCR is supporting this initiative by providing advice and guidance for new and existing ITQ centres as part of the initiative’s pilot phase. Complementing this is the e-skills UK solution, Doing Business Online - a full Level 2 ITQ Certificate (16 credits) that gives trainers the flexibility to match learner’s needs and skills levels.
With the assistance from their local training provider, GBBO participants complete an online wizard to build or improve their own website. They will also have the option to move forward and complete a full Level 2 ITQ certificate.
The GBBO initiative was launched early in 2010 by Google, e-skills UK, Enterprise UK and BT, and was followed by a Getting British Business Online week in April.
