OCR congratulates Aaron Freeman from Gloucester College, who was this week awarded England’s VQ Day Learner of the Year 2013.
Skills Minister Matthew Hancock hosted the 6th annual VQ Day awards ceremony at the Houses of Parliament on 4 June. This year the day was sponsored by OCR and it was a great opportunity to celebrate all those people who are working towards achieving a vocational qualification or who have been awarded one. To mark the day Matthew also posted an online video discussing vocational qualifications with 2012 award winner Corrine Patmore.
Charlotte Bosworth, OCR Interim Head of New Business Planning and Implementation, and Matthew Hancock are pictured presenting Aaron with his award. Aaron, from the Forest of Dean, achieved a Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Public Services and was awarded for his demonstration of how much can be accomplished as a result of gaining a vocational qualification – for Aaron this opened up the chance to study at university, gave him the confidence to start his own business and he has also stood as a candidate for Gloucester County Council.
