A small garage in Lancashire and an NHS Foundation Trust in North Yorkshire have received OCR-sponsored awards for Outstanding Commitment to education. The Awards were presented as part of the Institute of Education Business Excellence's (IEBE's) Business Awards, held at London's Design Museum earlier this month.
Auto Technics, a local Southport garage providing MOTs, servicing and repairs, won OCR's Outstanding Commitment Award in the small and medium sized enterprise category for its 15-year dedication to supporting local young people though work experience placements.
Harrogate & District NHS Foundation Trust won the larger organization category for the breadth and depth of its educational activities. The Trust was nominated for 'bringing the curriculum to life' in its delivery of a range of personal health education, Diploma units, as well as medical and scientific specialisms.
John Brenchley, OCR Partnership Manager, said: "Congratulations to both our winners. We are proud to have this opportunity to recognize these examples of commitment to education business.
"Though small, Auto Technics has an exceptional record and shown an astonishing level of commitment over a long period. Harrogate NHS Foundation Trust has been remarkably active in education business and, in just over 3 years, become a model for public, private and voluntary organizations alike."
OCR worked with the IEBE to develop a national standard for organizations operating between education and the world of work. Over 50 organisations are now accredited with the nationally-recognised Award for Education Business Excellence (AEBE).
