Sebastian Nottage (pictured left) was the winner of the OCR-sponsored Learner of the Year award at FE Sussex’s Spring Awards 2013 held in Brighton last week.
The achievements of students at FE Sussex, a consortium of 12 post-16 colleges in Sussex, are recognised at the annual awards ceremony. Judges and sponsors look for students who have shown outstanding commitment to their education and training, particularly excellence in academic achievement despite difficult circumstances.
OCR Sussex Learner of the Year Sebastian has a passion for Maths and is taking A Levels in Maths, Further Maths, and Additional Maths as well as Chemistry, Computing and Physics at Sixth Form Haywards Heath, part of Central Sussex College. He has achieved top grades so far in all his exams and is predicted A*s in his remaining exams. Offered a place to read maths at Cambridge next year, Sebastian achieved a perfect score in the Maths SAT for undergraduate study in America. He is also a very talented musician.
Jade Cassidy, OCR Regional Account Manager, (right), who presented the award, was impressed by Sebastian’s commitment. “He is a very gifted mathematician who has been helped to fulfil his potential at Sixth Form Haywards Heath. It is a pleasure for OCR to be able to recognise his outstanding ability and achievement.”
Sebastian is taking OCR A Levels in Chemistry, Maths, Further Maths and Additional Maths.
