Plans for a new performance table measure designed to benchmark the achievements of 16 to 19 year olds who successfully complete a Level 3 vocational programme, a Level 3 maths qualification and an Extended Project were unveiled by the government today.
The Technical Baccalaureate Measure (“Tech Bacc”) will be introduced alongside reforms to 16-19 vocational qualifications, for school and college courses starting from September 2014. It will first be reported in the 2016 performance tables.
Mark Dawe, OCR Chief Executive, commented: “Recognising the value of vocational education and supporting strong programmes of study are aims shared by OCR. As an awarding body which offers both academic and vocational qualifications, we know that flexibility is also important in allowing students to achieve their full potential. We look forward to studying the detail of the new measure as it emerges and to keeping our customers informed on how they could achieve the measure with OCR’s support.”
Further information on the new Tech Bacc is available on the DfE website.
