In September 2012, our Professional Development Programme for teachers switched online.
Ofqual requires that, from September 2013, all face-to-face training by awarding bodies for specific qualifications, such GCSEs and A Level, should stop. In response to this, we’ve worked hard to ensure that training is accessible through other channels so that you are fully supported when the changes come into force next year.
Over 4,000 people have already registered at www.ocronlinetraining.org.uk to access the training available. In a 2011 survey, we asked you what you wanted in an online training environment and you told us that you would like a variety of web-based training. Web-based training is easy to access and offers benefits such as flexibility, convenience, consistency and reduced training costs.
We’re pleased to offer a range of training, including videos, slideshows and interactive pdfs with new content added daily. There are also free resources to view and download from the site.
One user commented about the online training website: “It’s excellent. I can access exemplar material which was previously only available on a course. I have encouraged all the staff in my department to register and will be using it for CPD.”
We're keen to hear your feedback as we improve and expand this programme in time for the September 2013 changes required by Ofqual. Please email us any feedback at email@example.com.
In early November, we launched a new initiative and hosted the first in a series of webinars. These live broadcasts, either with a single presenter or panel discussion, will give attendees the opportunity to discuss and learn more about some of our qualifications. Recordings of the webinars will also be made available online so look out for these.
Our popular programme of premier CPD events – such as last summer’s Physics Conference featuring the Naked Scientists – is now in full swing and we’re also offering face-to-face training for GCSE controlled assessment and A Level coursework. You can book your place on any professional development event by registering at the CPDHub.
