Generic Learning is a staple component of Diplomas, allowing students to develop and apply a range of necessary skills. Functional Skills is a mandatory part of Generic Learning.
Diplomas require learners to achieve Functional Skills:
As Functional Skills is a mandatory element within Generic learning you will need to join the OCR pilot to be able to deliver Functional Skills as part of the Diploma.
QCA has approved OCR's plans to pilot its assessment approach for Functional Skills; English, Maths and ICT at all three levels (Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2)
To join the OCR pilot, please complete the sign up form, or email functionalskills@ocr.org.uk.
Please note - You must be on an OCR Functional Skills pilot to be able to enter candidates for Functional Skills.
The Functional Skills qualifications are being piloted for three years, from September 2007 to August 2010, and are likely to replace the Key Skills and Basic Skills (Skills for Life) qualifications. QCA will keep the Key Skills and Basic Skills qualifications until at least 2010, which will allow certification until at least 2012.
