This course is intended to challenge the most able Advanced GCE candidates by providing an opportunity to demonstrate a greater depth of understanding than that required at Advanced GCE. There are no specific prior knowledge requirements for AEA Critical Thinking. The course will allow candidates to demonstrate critical analysis, evaluation and synthesis within a range of science, arts, humanities, political and social science areas.
The qualification consists of one three hour examination paper consisting of multiple choice, short response and extended writing questions. The award will be on a two-point scale, distinction and merit. Candidates who do not reach the minimum standard for merit will be recorded as ungraded.
The qualification is particularly suitable for candidates who intend to proceed to further study in any discipline at university or who wish to proceed to employment.
