This course is designed to offer students the opportunity to gain a critical understanding of the society in which they live. Throughout the course, students study the sociological perspectives sorrounding social behaviour, cultures and learn how people's interaction shape their societies.
Students study from a selection of chosen topics, including the Family, Mass Media, Religion, Youth and Culture, Crime and Deviance, Education, Health, Popular Culture, Social Policy and Welfare, and Protest and Social Movements.
The course offers a suitable foundation for progresion into higher education, in a wide range of social science, humanities or vocational subjects. Students may also progress into vocational training or employment in various occupations, including social work, social care, journalism, business administration and management.
Previous study of the subject is not essential.
