Candidates develop their language skills through a study of prescribed verse and prose texts, such as the works of Ovid and Cicero. Candidates will demonstrate understanding of literary techniques and have the opportunity to make a personal response to the texts.

Latin Verse

Candidates will study Latin verse in an holistic way through prescribed verse texts, such as the works of Virgil or Catullus, and through responding to an unseen verse passage via comprehension questions and translation.

Candidates will study Latin prose in an holistic way through prescribed prose texts, such as the works of Livy or Tacitus, and either an unseen prose translation with comprehension questions or a prose composition from English into Latin.
