As the legacy and new specifications will be running side by side until 2010, you should ensure that your centre uses the correct entry codes when entering candidates for A Levels, as the use of an incorrect code could result in candidates being put forward for the wrong examination. It is important that your Examinations Officer is kept fully informed.

It is important that you make estimated entries, especially for the new specifications where we will have no record of any previous entries. If you do not, it could delay your centre receiving early examination materials such as practical instructions for examinations and pre-release materials. For subjects with a visiting Moderator/Examiner, OCR will not be able to allocate a Moderator/Examiner and this could cause delays in the moderation/ examination process.

The JCQ awarding bodies will not routinely transfer credit from current (legacy) AS specifications to new A level specifications. It will not be possible for students to combine legacy and new units to make up a whole A level qualification. Transfer of credit is only possible between specifications that have been written to the same criteria.
