Overview

This course is designed to develop students' awareness of career opportunities and to encourage the development of practical skills in job seeking and career planning. Students will develop skills in researching jobs and careers and identifying personal career goals. This will enable them to match skills and abilities to appropriate jobs and careers. Students will also develop skills in presenting personal information effectively.

This qualification is part of the Career Planning and Preparation for Employment suite, which also comprises:

The qualifications are available at three levels and represent a coherent progression path that will allow students to develop an increasing understanding of the labour market and personal development as they progress to higher levels.

Specification aims

The aims of this specification are to:

  • Develop students' skill in researching career and job opportunities.
  • Develop students' skill in presenting personal information in writing for job application situations.
  • Develop students' skill in presenting personal information in interview situations.
  • Develop an appreciation of the world of work and the issues involved in seeking employment.
