Overview

This course is designed to provide opportunities for students to develop their knowledge and understanding of Office Practice and to demonstrate that they have developed practical skills which would be of benefit to them if taking up employment in this area.

The course has been designed to be flexible by offering both unit and full qualification accreditation, enabling students to learn at their own pace.

This qualification is suitable for young people and adults in full-time education and also in vocational "access courses" or E2E programmes.

Specification aims

The aims of this specification are to:

  • Develop students' knowledge and understanding of office practice.
  • Develop students' knowledge of career opportunities in office work.
  • Develop students' skill in using a variety of office equipment effectively.
  • Develop students' understanding of the importance of effective communication and to assist them in developing the interpersonal skills needed to work in an office environment.
  • Develop students' awareness of health and safety issues in an office environment.
  • Encourage the development of practical skills which would prepare students for work in an office environment.
  • Encourage progression by assisting in the development of the skills and knowledge which students will need to undertake further study.
