Overview

GCSE in Applied Art and Design (Double Award) is one of a number of GCSEs in vocational subjects. The course is designed to offer students the opportunity to widen their participation in vocationally related learning, and aimed at those wanting a broad background in Applied Art and Design. It enables students to make valid personal choices on completion of the qualification and to allow progression into art-related areas of employment. This qualification is suitable for both pre-16 and post-16 learners in full-time or part-time education.

The course is accredited at Levels 1 and 2 (Foundation and Intermediate) of the National Qualifications Framework and provides students with a progression route to Foundation and Intermediate GNVQs, NVQs at Levels 1 2 and 3, VCE and GCE.
