Overview

If you are already teaching Expressive Arts you can compare current and revised specifications on the What are the changes? page.

Our specification will engage learners in a variety of expressive art forms and give them opportunity to work with a range of media within Art and Design, Music, Drama, Dance and Creative Writing. They will explore relationships between the art forms and how skills in one art form can be transferred to another.

Benefits to you and your learners of teaching this qualification

  • Students will learn and develop an approach to the arts that will develop their imagination, and provide a tool kit that includes a strong knowledge base and learning to work with clear working processes
  • The specification contains extensive practical work and learners can create their own devised material which is informed through existing practitioners
  • Centres are free to choose their own stimulus material to teach to their strengths and to suit the needs of their learners
  • The provision of high quality support materials from both OCR and Publishing Partner, including teacher website resources
  • Provides good progression to Key Stage 5 qualifications, in particular GCE Performance Studies and GCE (Applied) Performing Arts
  • Assessment by visit retained for all units and all units can be done at the same time, saving time and administration burden as it can all be completed on the same day.

First examination dates
