Overview

This qualification is intended for and aims to meet the needs of any individual who is responsible for starting up their own business and putting together a business plan. Individuals may be those for example, who are changing career, returning to work or unemployed and choosing self employment as a career option.

To achieve a full award, candidates must complete all five mandatory units. There are no optional units. There are six additional units available to candidates; however, they are not required for the full NVQ.

This NVQ is competence based. This means that it is linked to the candidate's ability to competently perform and complete a range of tasks. Candidates plan a programme of development and assessment with their assessor and compile a portfolio of evidence to prove that they are competent and knowledgeable in their work role. The end product of the NVQ will be the business plan.
