  • Last registration date: 31 October 2009
  • Last certification date: 31 October 2012

This qualification is intended for those involved in the co-ordination of learning programmes for individuals and groups, who identify and agree learning aims and programmes for individuals, designing learning programmes to meet their needs. They will also be a co-ordinator for other peoples contributions to the learning evaluation/improvement of programmes. They may also be conducting internal quality assurance, identifying organisation-wide learning and development needs, preparing and developing resources and creating a climate that promotes learning as well as supporting, advising, monitoring and reviewing progress with individual learners.

To achieve a full award, candidates must complete seven units, including six mandatory units and one optional unit from a further choice of seven. Candidates choose the optional units that best suit their work situation and job role.

Like all NVQs this qualification is competence-based. This means that it is linked to the candidate's ability to competently perform a range of tasks connected with their work. Candidates plan a programme of development and assessment with their assessor and compile a portfolio of evidence to prove that they are competent and knowledgeable in their work role.

OCR offers a range of NVQs in Learning and Development, which develop and recognise the competency of staff working at all levels within this sector. OCR also offers vocationally-related unit based awards, which reflect discrete roles in the delivery, assessment and verification process.
