As you may be aware, this qualification was due to expire on 31 May 2007. However, I am pleased to inform you that this date has now been extended for a further year to the following dates:
This qualification is intended for individuals who identify and agree learning aims and programmes for individuals, developing training sessions, creating a climate that promotes learning and monitoring/reviewing progress with learners. They may also be assessing candidates, enabling learning through a variety of interventions, supporting and advising learners.
To achieve a full award, candidates must complete nine units, including six mandatory units and three optional units (two from one choice of four and one from a further choice of five). Candidates choose the optional units that best suit their work situation and job role.
Like all NVQs this qualification is competence-based. This means that it is linked to the candidate's ability to competently perform a range of tasks connected with their work. Candidates plan a programme of development and assessment with their assessor and compile a portfolio of evidence to prove that they are competent and knowledgeable in their work role.
OCR offers a range of NVQs in Learning and Development, which develop and recognise the competency of staff working at all levels within this sector. OCR also offers vocationally-related unit based awards, which reflect discrete roles in the delivery, assessment and verification process.
