Overview

Road Haulage NVQs are aimed at people working, or intending to work, in the road haulage and distribution industry. They are also suitable for anyone engaged in transport operations in other industries.

The Transporting Goods by Road level 2 qualification is intended for those who are involved in the preparation and transporting of goods and materials by road. To achieve the full award, candidates must complete seven mandatory units.

Please note: the acquisition of a Department of Transport Driving Licence forms part of the Transporting Goods by Road NVQ at Level 2. Candidates working towards this NVQ will be required to produce evidence that they hold the Department of Transport's Licence for the appropriate category of vehicle(s) upon which assessment took place.

Like all NVQs, this qualification is competence based. This means that it is linked to the candidate's ability to competently perform a range of tasks connected with their work. Candidates plan a programme of development with their assessor and compile a portfolio of evidence to prove that they are competent and knowledgeable in their work role.
