The revised OCR Level 3 Nationals in Art and Design have been accredited by QCA for first delivery from 1 September 2007.
The following summarises this enhanced provision:
These qualifications are designed to recognise candidates' skills, knowledge and understanding of the art and design sector. Suitable for post-16 candidates only, they will provide a high quality, industry-recognised qualification. Developed in consultation with the sector, these qualifications allow candidates to select from a range of optional units. Its flexibility also enables candidates to achieve individual units or a full qualification: Certificate, Diploma or Extended Diploma, according to their needs. Candidates can progress to Higher Education to pursue further study eg foundation courses, related creative art degrees etc.
Alternatively, those who want to enter the workplace may do so at a trainee level and complete further courses pertinent to their job role.
These qualifications specifically aim to:
All units are centre-assessed and externally moderated by OCR. There are no timetabled exams for this qualification; candidates may complete units at a time that suits the centre. The full award and units from this qualification are graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction.
OCR National qualifications have been accredited at Level 1, 2 and 3 of the National Qualifications Framework and eligible for funding under the Learning and Skills Council's Section 96/97 arrangements.
