FAQs for ICT

Do printouts have to be in colour or black and white?

Printouts in either colour or black and white are acceptable; the important point is that printouts are clear so the examiner is able to mark them.

Do printouts have to be produced during the test time?

Printing may be carried out after the test time.

When preparing an email, does the learner have to send the message?

No, the learner must provide a screen print showing the email prepared and the files attached as requested.

Can you suggest ways that we can disable internet access following part A of the assessment?

Please refer to the following documents that are available to download from the OCR website:

In addition, we recommend that you speak with your ICT co-ordinator to come up with a solution that works for your centre.

Can you suggest the most suitable method to make the data files available to my learners?

Data files must be made available to each learner attempting the assessment. It is up to the centre how this is done, the important thing being that each learner has access to the original data files (i.e. not altered by another learner, or converted to a different file format) and can save / print out documents as instructed.

Are there any specific software packages that learners should use when attempting the assessments?

We don’t specify software packages that learners should use although software used should have the functionality to carry out the requirements of the specification.

For additional information, please refer to the Deliverers Handbook (PDF, 370 KB) which is available to download from the OCR website.

When attempting the assessments, can learners use the help facilities within the software they are using?

Yes, the use of help facilities within software is functional and allowed.
