Changes to the Controlled Assessment element of GCSE French, German and Spanish

We are pleased to confirm important changes to the preparation stage of Controlled Assessment for Speaking and Writing in OCR’s specifications for GCSE French, German and Spanish.

Changes at a glance:

  • Preparation for Controlled Assessment tasks take place under informal supervision
  • Students can have up to 6 hours preparation time for Controlled Assessment if desired
  • Some of this preparation can take place outside of the classroom

Overview

Our new GCSE French specification is designed to help your learners develop language skills while offering you and your learners more flexibility when it comes to assessments. Speaking tasks can be completed outside the classroom for added real-life relevance. In addition, the new option of a short course for French, where your students can study just the speaking or writing part of the course, has been introduced.
