Unit A831: Listening

Unit description	Assessment incl. duration	Weighting
Candidates will: Listen for, identify and note main points and extract some details from spoken Portuguese of increasing length, speed and complexity Demonstrate their understanding of Portuguese with a variety of non-verbal responses and some short answers in English.	Written examination 50 minutes	25% full course 50% spoken short course

Unit A832: Speaking

Unit description	Assessment incl. duration	Weighting
Using Portuguese, candidates will: Communicate appropriate information on a chosen topic. Take part in and develop conversations, expressing and justifying opinions where appropriate.	Oral examination 10 minutes	25% full course 50% spoken short course

Unit A833: Reading

Unit description	Assessment incl. duration	Weighting
Candidates will: Read, identify and note main points and extract some details from written texts in Portuguese of increasing length, speed and complexity Demonstrate their understanding of Portuguese with a variety of non-verbal responses and some short answers in English.	Written examination 1 hour	25% full course 50% written short course

Unit A834: Writing

Unit description	Assessment incl. duration	Weighting
Using Portuguese, candidates will: Demonstrate their ability to communicate in writing on different topics Express and justify points of view where appropriate Use as wide a range of vocabulary and grammatical structures as possible.	Written examination 1 hour	25% full course 50% written short course
