GCSE in Engineering (Double Award) is one of a number of GCSEs in vocational subjects designed to offer students the opportunity to widen their participation in vocationally related learning. This is an ideal course for those students who want a broad background in Engineering and can be undertaken by students entering this vocational area for the first time.
This qualification is suitable for both pre-16 and post-16 learners in full-time or part-time education. When completing their portfolios, students will be expected to have had practical experience in producing a product.
This qualification has been developed as the replacement for Foundation and Intermediate Part One GNVQs. It is accredited at Levels 1 and 2 (Foundation and Intermediate) of the National Qualifications Framework and provides students with a progression route to Foundation and Intermediate GNVQs and VCE.
