New NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications in Supporting Teaching and Learning
As you may be aware, the current Level 2 and Level 3 NVQs for Teaching Assistants expire for registration on 28 February 2008. The Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) have redeveloped the standards on which the NVQs are based, with the result that a new qualification will be launched from 1 March 2008.
Although still aimed at teaching assistants, the new qualifications will be called NVQ (Level 2 or Level 3) in Supporting Teaching and Learning. Full details will be posted under the new title as they become available. Information on the new standards and units for the new NVQs are available now.

Developed to reflect changes in support staff roles following implementation of the national agreement on Raising Standards and Tackling Workload. It covers the traditional teaching assistant role but has been broadened in scope to include new roles and responsibilities such as cover supervision, exam invigilation, pastoral care and others.
