Overview

These qualifications are knowledge-based qualifications replacing the OCR iPRO (VRQ) qualifications. These form the new PROCOM suite of qualifications, developed for the QCF.

The PROCOM qualifications are vocationally-related, credit-based qualifications, designed to accredit the knowledge and understanding of practitioners in the IT and Telecoms industry.  They may be taken as stand alone qualifications, suitable for any person wishing to gain a broad understanding of employment within the sector or in conjunction with OCR competence qualifications towards an apprenticeship.

These qualifications are suitable for those who already possess basic knowledge and understanding of ICT systems and who wish to extend their knowledge and skills. It is suitable for those in education who wish to gain access to the IT industry and those who are already employed in roles in the IT industry who wish to develop further knowledge and skills to support and/or extend their work activities.

In order to achieve these qualifications, candidates are required to achieve:

  • A minimum of 12 credits from any of the available units for the Level 3 Award.
  • A minimum of 24 credits including 1 mandatory unit for the Level 3 Certificate.
  • A minimum of 48 credits including 2 mandatory units for the Level 3 Diploma.

In order to achieve a Level 3 Extended Diploma, candidates are required to achieve a minimum of 72 credits including two mandatory units.
