Changes to the Teacher Qualifications Framework in the Lifelong Learning Sector

From September 2007, all new entrants to teaching in the sector will be required to complete a new award which will prepare them to teach. This is a small introductory course which will give a threshold status to teach.

This qualification has been developed to meet the requirement that all new teachers of adult literacy must gain an adult literacy qualification, approved by FENTO (Further Education National Training Organisation). The qualification has been developed to recognise the knowledge and skills demonstrated by those who work as specialist teachers of literacy.
