Overview

OCR Certificates in Administration

These qualifications at Levels 1, 2 and 3 of the National Qualifications Framework have been designed to provide candidates with a comprehensive and progressive introduction to the core skills and knowledge required to work in administrative contexts.

Each of the qualifications is made up of five units which can be entered individually or in any combination of units short of the full award. The full Certificate at each level consists of all five units.

Units 1 and 3 are examined at different times during the year. Units 2 and 4 are centre-assessed and externally moderated by OCR. Unit 5 is borrowed from the new CLAIT suite of qualifications at the appropriate level. Candidates must be entered for Unit 5 separately through the appropriate CLAIT scheme code (05540). Candidates who successfully achieve the CLAiT unit using the Microsoft Office test route can use this as the CLAiT unit within the Certificate in Administration.

For the full Certificate, the candidate is required to pass units in the following core areas of administration: business communications, working with colleagues and customers, how business organisations work, following administrative procedures and using information and communications technology.

The OCR Level 3 Certificate in Administration is aimed at those who are already employed in administrative roles and who wish to develop further knowledge and skills to support their work. It will also be suitable for those who are studying in preparation for employment in job roles where they will be expected to work autonomously at senior level in carrying out administrative tasks and for those preparing to undertake the NVQ in Administration at Level 3.

Candidates can achieve the CLAiT units using the Microsoft Office tests route, where these are available.
