The OCR Level 3 Certificate for Adult Numeracy Subject Support has been developed to recognise the knowledge and skills demonstrated by those who support adult learners in the development of numeracy skills. It has been designed to develop and accredit both awareness of the wider social and learning issues related to the development of numeracy skills and also an advanced level of personal numeracy skills. It has been developed to meet the Department for Education and Skills requirement that all new support staff for adult numeracy must hold a subject support qualification endorsed by the Further Education National Training Organisation (FENTO).
The qualification aims to develop candidates' skills and knowledge and to recognise their achievements in a practical way that is relevant to the work context. It is anticipated that much of the practical evidence required to meet the assessment requirements of the qualification will be naturally occurring.
