This qualification is intended for those who assess NVQ candidates against national standards using a range of methods. The 'assessor-candidate' will be carrying out the following tasks:

  • Developing plans for assessing competence with NVQ candidates
  • Judging evidence against NVQ criteria to make assessment decisions
  • Providing feedback and support to NVQ candidates on assessment decisions
  • Contributing to the internal quality assurance process

To achieve the full award, candidates must achieve unit A1 from the Learning and Development national occupational standards 'Assess candidates using a range of methods'.

This qualification is intended for those who assess candidates against national standards.

Like all NVQ unit-based awards, this qualification is competence-based. This means that it is linked to the candidate's ability to competently perform a range of tasks connected with their work. Candidates plan a programme of development and assessment with their assessor and compile a portfolio of evidence to prove that they are competent and knowledgeable in their work role.

OCR offers a range of unit-based awards that reflect discrete roles in the delivery, assessment and verification process. OCR also offers NVQs in Learning and Development that develop and recognise the competency of staff working at all levels within this sector.
