This qualification is part of the Career Planning and Preparation for Employment suite which also comprises:
The Career Planning and Job-seeking Skills qualifications have been designed to develop candidates' awareness of career opportunities and to encourage the development of practical skills in job seeking and career planning. Candidates will develop skills in researching jobs and careers and identifying personal career goals. This will enable them to match skills and abilities to appropriate jobs and careers. Candidates will also develop skills in presenting personal information effectively. The qualifications recognise the range of non-work based skills that enable learners to be effective in finding and achieving employment.
Each of the Job-seeking Skills and Career Planning qualifications consists of four units. Candidates can be entered either for a complete qualification (all four units) or for individual units. All units are centre-assessed and OCR-moderated. Work can be assessed and submitted at any time of year. The flexible arrangements enable candidates to gain accreditation at their own pace or as course time permits. The qualifications are available at three levels and represent a coherent progression path that will allow candidates to develop an increasing understanding of the labour market and personal development as they progress to higher levels.
The qualifications are suitable for a wide range of candidates, from those commencing careers studies in schools to adults wishing to return to work including those looking to re-evaluate their career plans.
All qualifications in the suite are available now and are supported by a Tutor's Handbook and optional training days.
OCR is supporting VQ Day a celebration of vocational success on 23 July 2008.
