Overview

The qualification aims to develop candidates' skills and knowledge and to recognise their achievements in a practical way that is relevant to the work context. It is anticipated that some of the practical evidence required to meet the assessment requirements of the qualification will be naturally occurring, although qualifications cannot be achieved or assessed through performance in the workplace alone.

This vocational qualification will most suit managers of those supporting or wishing to support learners to improve their literacy, language, numeracy or ICT skills. Candidates have the option of focussing on a particular aspect of support relating to their specific job role.

Centres currently approved for any of the qualifications below will automatically receive centre approval for the new awards:

• 03430 OCR Level 3 Certificate for Adult Literacy Support
• 03431 OCR Level 3 Certificate for Adult Numeracy Support
• 03432 OCR Level 4 Certificate for Adult Literacy Subject Specialists
• 03433 OCR Level 4 Certificate for Adult Numeracy Subject Specialists

Centres not currently offering OCR Learning Support qualifications should apply for approval for the new awards in the usual way by submitting form VQ1A.
