This qualification is concerned with the safety aspects of taking young people and children out of their normal environment on trips and visits.
It recognises candidates' ability to plan for and evaluate off-site activities, taking into account such aspects as risk assessment and legal responsibilities.
Entry to the written examination which forms the assessment, is to be made through centres specially approved to offer the qualification.
The qualification is suitable for teachers who lead field trips and educational visits, for youth leaders or those who work with young people in voluntary organisations, or indeed for anyone who has to take young people or children anywhere including to away matches or even down to the local library.
