The OCR Level 2 Certificate in Preparing for a Business Venture is a bite-size, flexible qualification that aims to equip candidates with the ability to consider all aspects of setting up their own business from a personal and practical perspective.
Candidates will fully consider the potential of their business idea and their own personal needs as a business person working for themselves. They will identify any training or personal development that may be needed for them to set up and run their own successful business.
The OCR Level 2 Certificate in Preparing for a Business Venture is designed to provide candidates with an understanding of some of the more in-depth requirements for setting up in business, such as: legal structures and their implications, methods of selling, financial requirements and knowledge of attracting and retaining customers. Completion of the full certificate will provide candidates with some of the necessary tools needed to draft the basis of a business plan.
To successfully achieve the certificate, candidates will complete the three mandatory units (units 1-3), of 10 hours each, plus a further two units of 20 hours each, from a choice of five optional units relevant to any potential entrepreneur (units 4-8).
The OCR Level 2 Certificate in Preparing for a Business Venture is part of a suite of OCR Enterprise VQs relevant to today's market.
All units within the suite are signposted to the latest Business Enterprise national occupational standards (developed by SFEDI), and, as such, can provide a key progression route between education and employment.
